Beaver Scouts (6-8)

Our Beavers meet on Thursday evenings, have lots of fun playing games and earn badges. They also take part in Scout Group events and sometimes have days out.

When we meet:

• Thursdays from 18:00 to 19:00

Although we try to arrive before the meeting start time, we cannot guarantee being there early so please ensure a Leader is present before you leave your child.

Our Beaver Leaders

Helen Wise (Beaver Scout team leader):

I grew up in the Guiding community and got involved in Scouting when my son started Beavers. I started as a parent helper then an Occasional Helper helping to assess individual’s badge work. I then joined as an Assistant Beaver Leader when a friend of mine took on the role of Beaver Scout Leader. Since September 2020 I have become the main Beaver leader and have just completed all of my training. I enjoy helping young people grow in confidence and see them having fun learning new skills.

I am a part-time Primary School Teacher and I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Ian Withycombe

I grew up with scouting and guiding in my family. The life skills I learnt as a Cub and Scout I still use today. Although sport took over for several years getting back into scouting as an adult and becoming a beaver leader has been really rewarding. I enjoy helping young people grow in confidence and see them having fun learning new skills. I work in IT, so keen to ensure our beavers can become good digital citizens too.

I joined 8th West Wickham scouts when I was 10 and a half, having been a Rainbow and Brownie prior to this, and have never left! I then went on to be an explorer and a young leader at Beavers. Having gained so much from my experience in Scouting, I wanted to give back and becoming a leader when I turned 18 was an easy decision!
