Our Squirrels meet on Thursdays, have lots of fun playing games and earn badges. They also take part in Scout Group events.
- Thursdays from 17:30 to 18:15
Although we try to arrive before the meeting start time, we cannot guarantee being there early so please ensure a Leader is present before you leave your child.

Uniform
As a uniformed organisation, we wear uniform at all meetings other than in exceptional circumstances. You would not be expected to buy uniform immediately, but we would expect you to have bought it within a couple of months of joining. Uniform means trousers and jumper. Only official Scout Association uniform may be worn – and not items that may look similar to it. We present new members with a Group Scarf and woggle. 8th West Wickham Group t-shirts may be worn in warmer weather.
Claire Weedon (Squirrel Scout team leader)
I’m Claire, one of the scout leaders. I started Brownies ages 8 and then grew up through Guides and up until I was 27 I was a guide leader. I then took a bit of a break whilst I had kids. I have three. One who is now in Cubs, one in Beavers and one eagerly waiting for Squirrels.
Once my kids started at the 8th, I couldn’t help but feel jealous and so joined up. I’ve been a scout leader since 2022 and been loving all the adventurous activities particularly the water sports.
Outside of Scouts, I’m a teacher and my school’s SENCO.
Suzanne Wood
I have been involved in Scouting all my life as my parents were both leaders. I was a Scout with 20th Bermondsey and when I turned 16 became a young leader with the Cub section. At the same time, I joined the 3rd Royal Eltham VSU. At 18 our Beaver leader left and so I took over running Beavers temporarily. During that time, I also joined the Scout Network, completed my Queen Scout Award, attended the World Scout Jamboree and organised and ran a trip to Uganda.
I stayed a Beaver Scout leader for 15 years. Recently I have been taking a break from Scouting and had a baby. I am happy to be getting back to being part of Scouting at the 8th West Wickham and for my son to start on his Scouting journey. Outside of Scouts I am a Chemistry teacher.

I have live in West Wickham with my family and am currently the Children and Families worker at Emmanuel Church. In my spare time, I enjoy playing netball, going on holiday, taking long walks with my 4.5 year old golden retriever and spending time with family and friends.
Many years ago, I was a Venture Scout with the 8th West Wickham and both of my sons have been with the 8th since Beavers. One is now a Cub Leader when he is back from University and other is an Explorer.
